5 Easy Ways To Win Your Day

Below are 5 daily steps that if I managed to achieve these during my morning 9 times out of 10 I’m going to have a good day.

1. Have a good night sleep

To me this is critical for a productive day, particularly if I need to be creative.

I try to make sure I get a good night sleep as often as possible. It took me years to figure out my sleep and to get into a regular sleep pattern. Now that I’ve gotten older (and hopefully a little wiser) I’ve set up a night time routine where I cut off blue light electronic activity after 9pm (unless I have an emergency) and even have my mobile outside my bedroom whilst I’m sleeping. I then read a little before some meditation and visualisation then sleep. I also try and get up at a regular time regardless of whether it’s a work week or the weekend.

2. Getting into an early morning ritual

As soon as I wake I like to visualise my long term goals that I wish to achieve, I then visualise my day successful, have a short mediation session (or a short breathing technique if I’m really rushed for time), a glass of lemon and water which then gets to into my early morning exercise.

3. Start with an early morning exercise session

This can be anything from an early yoga class through to a short walk or run around the block.

Science has shown that even the smallest amount of exercise during the early morning has a habit of lifting your productivity levels. An early morning gym session or beach walk/run does the job for me.

4. Having a healthy breakfast

After my gym session or walk/run I like to have a small healthy breakfast to fuel my day. This usually means a protein shake (if I’ve been to the gym) and a bowl of oats with a handful of blueberries and a cup of green tea.

5. Plan out your day

If I have a really crazy day coming up I may plan this out the previous night, otherwise as soon as I get to my desk I write down all of the tasks I wish to accomplish (I have a fair idea what these will be as I try and plan out my weeks on a Sunday night), the approximate time to do this and get to work. A tip that many successful people use and I’ve tried to follow is starting the hardest task on your list first which then sets up your day.

I’m sure many of you are using most or all of the above points in your day though you may have some other tips for a more productive day, feel free to let us know in the comments section.
