Your Goals. Your Life. Your Way.
Turn the life you want into a life you create.
Welcome to Your Goals Your Life — a place to turn the things you want to change, achieve or experience into meaningful goals and practical action.
Perhaps you want to improve your health, build financial freedom, find a new direction in your career, strengthen your relationships, learn something new or finally pursue a dream you’ve been putting off.
Whatever your ambition, you don’t have to figure everything out at once.
You can start by deciding what matters most, choosing one meaningful goal and taking the first step.
Your future doesn’t change simply because you wish for something different. It changes when you begin taking action.
Step 1: Decide What You Want to Change
Before setting goals, take a moment to think about your life as it is today — and what you would like it to become.
Ask yourself:
- What is going well in my life?
- What would I most like to improve?
- What have I always wanted to do but never started?
- What would make me feel happier, healthier or more fulfilled?
- If I could make one meaningful change over the next 90 days, what would it be?
You don’t need to have all the answers. You simply need to be willing to explore what’s possible.
Step 2: Explore the Six Areas of Life
Your life is made up of many interconnected areas. Improving one can often have a positive effect on others.
Use these six areas to help identify where you want to focus.
1. Health & Vitality
Build the energy, fitness and healthy habits that help you enjoy life.
Consider your physical health, fitness, nutrition, sleep, energy and emotional wellbeing.
Example goals: Establish a regular exercise routine, improve sleep or complete your first 5 km run.
2. Money & Freedom
Create greater financial security and more freedom to make choices about your life.
Consider saving, managing expenses, increasing income, developing financial skills and working towards financial independence.
Example goals: Build an emergency fund, pay down debt or develop an additional source of income.
3. Career & Business
Build a career or business that better reflects your ambitions, interests and potential.
Consider professional development, entrepreneurship, new skills, career changes and meaningful work.
Example goals: Learn a valuable new skill, apply for a new role or launch a small business.
4. Love & Relationships
Develop stronger connections and create more meaningful relationships.
Consider your partner, family, friendships, social life and the quality of the relationships around you.
Example goals: Spend more quality time with loved ones, make new friends or become more active in your community.
5. Personal Growth & Experiences
Keep learning, growing and experiencing more of what life has to offer.
Consider new hobbies, travel, creativity, confidence, personal challenges and experiences you’ve always wanted to try.
Example goals: Learn a musical instrument, travel to a dream destination or complete a course.
6. Purpose & Spirituality
Explore what gives your life meaning, direction and a sense of connection.
Consider your values, contribution to others, personal beliefs, community involvement and the legacy you want to create.
Example goals: Volunteer for a cause you care about, spend more time reflecting on your values or contribute to a meaningful project.
You don’t need to work on all six areas at once. Choose the one or two that matter most to you right now.
Step 3: Turn Your Ambition Into a Goal
A wish describes something you’d like to happen. A goal gives you something specific to work towards.
For example:
- Wish: I want to get fitter.
- Goal: I will walk for 30 minutes, four days a week, for the next 30 days.
Or:
- Wish: I want to improve my finances.
- Goal: I will review my expenses this week and establish a realistic monthly savings target.
A useful goal gives you clarity about what you want to achieve, why it matters and what action you can take next.
Start small enough to begin, but choose something meaningful enough to motivate you.
Step 4: Create a Practical Plan
Big ambitions can feel overwhelming when you look at everything involved in achieving them.
The solution is to break your goal into smaller steps.
Ask yourself:
- What exactly do I want to achieve?
- Why is this important to me?
- What will progress look like?
- What are the first three actions I can take?
- What time, resources or support will I need?
- What obstacles might get in my way, and how could I respond?
You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a starting point that you can improve as you learn.
Step 5: Build Accountability Into Your Journey
Good intentions can easily get lost in the demands of everyday life.
Accountability helps you stay connected to your commitments, recognise progress and make adjustments when things don’t go to plan.
You might choose to:
- Set aside a regular time to review your progress.
- Record the actions you’ve completed.
- Share your goal with someone you trust.
- Ask an accountability partner to check in with you.
- Reflect on setbacks and decide what to do differently.
Remember, progress isn’t always a straight line. Missing a step doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It gives you an opportunity to understand what happened and decide how to move forward.
Your First Challenge: Choose One Goal for the Next 90 Days
Imagine looking back three months from now. What would you be proud to have achieved?
Choose one goal that would make a meaningful difference to your life.
Write it down. Decide why it matters. Identify your first action and when you’ll take it.
Then begin.
You don’t need to transform your entire life today. You need to take the first step towards the life you want to create.
